Seasonal Programs Update
Well, here we are in November. Snow guns have been fired up on the mountain and we're getting ready for the season.
New Families
Welcome to the seasonal programs. If you attended the spring evaluation day, thank you. If you did not, and your child was accepted as a new participant into the Scouts, Development or Competition Team programs, we need one of the following prior to the December 14 start of the program:
Option A: Send us video of your child skiing or snowboarding green terrain or higher.
Option B: Attend the evaluations on December 7 for program and group placement.
Please email me if you have video, or will need to be evaluated on December 7.
Competition Teams
You should have received correspondence from your coach asking you to register with USASA and register for competitions this season, especially those at Loon. All competitions fill up quickly, and each competition team member must compete in at least three this season.
Group Assignments
Group assignments will be announced prior to our start date for Dev Team and Scouts. We will do our best to keep previous season groups intact. Groups will be based on skill levels, ages, and the dynamics of each group to ensure the best possible learning and fun atmosphere.
If you signed up for Competition Team because there was no availability in the Development Team, we are unable to move anyone into Development Team at this time. We currently are finalizing staffing for the program, with the focus on the balance of student-instructor ratios.
Join the Team
Are you interested in becoming more involved with the Loon Mountain Seasonal Program? We are looking for individuals to become instructor/coaches. This position includes compensation, training and some other benefits, too. If you interested in learning more, please email David Binford.
Coach in Training
This is a new program for our Development Team members ages 14–16 who are interested in learning to become a coach/instructor. If your child is interested in this program, please email David Binford so we may place your child in the appropriate group. Use CIT in the subject line.
Park-Centric Groups
We anticipate having some park-centric groups this season with certified freestyle coaches. This program will begin with the basics and progress to intermediate levels, within a mix of all-mountain skiing and techniques. Email David Binford and put PARK in the subject line.
Let's make this an amazing season,
David Binford
