Master Bootfitters

Loon Mountain Sports is the only area shop with two Master Bootfitters, graduates of Masterfit University. We'll help you achieve a ski boot that is custom fit for your feet.

Buying a pair of ski boots is a lot like building the foundation of a house. Do a poor job, and the entire structure could come crashing down.

Lucky for us, Loon Mountain Sports has two Master Bootfitters on staff. Like master carpenters, these highly-skilled technicians are trained to find the best possible boot for you – and then perform any modifications necessary to give you a rock-solid biomechanical foundation.

But while our bootfitters are magicians, they’re not mind-readers. They absolutely need your input and guidance to give you the best possible fit. Here are 7 things you can do to help our Master Bootfiters find your sole mate.

  1. Dress Appropriately
Leave the skinny jeans at home. Wear loose-fitting pants (or shorts) that can be rolled up while trying on boots; you’ll also want to wear thin ski socks to ensure the closest possible fit.

  2. Tell the Truth
Give us a realistic appraisal of your skiing abilities. Are you a beginner? A strong intermediate? That’s great. We’ll find the boot that fits your skill set perfectly. No need to try and impress us. We already think you’re pretty cool just for stopping by.

  3. Welcome to the Bunion Room
Got foot problems? Don’t be embarrassed. We need to know if you’ve had any injuries, soreness, heel spurs, or other foot or lower leg issues that may affect how we fit your boot. Armed with that knowledge, our bootfitters will work to find a boot setup that works well with your unique biomechanics.

  4. Bring Your Old Boots and Insoles
Bring in your old gear so we can see what you’ve been working with. By examining your current equipment and discussing your needs, we’ll have a better shot and finding you the perfect new boot.

  5. Squeeze
You’re not shopping for a pair of slippers, so don’t expect the right boot to fit like one. A proper-fitting boot will feel snug when you try it on in the shop. That’s because all boots loosen a bit after even a short amount of use. After a few runs, they should fit like a glove…for your feet.

  6. What's Your Favorite Color?
Tell us if you have any color or design preferences, and we’ll try to find a boot that works for you – aesthetically and physically. Sometimes you’ll fall in love with a beautiful boot that just doesn’t fit your foot properly. That’s life. We’re here to help you move on.

  7. Visit Midweek
If you can, visit Loon Mountain Sports during our midweek hours. Finding the right boot and adjusting it to your foot takes time and patience, and midweek is the perfect time to do that. If you can only make it up on a weekend, swing by the shop early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the midday rush. Our hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. midweek.
