Loon Snowmakers

Be a Loon Mountain snowmaker for four months, then finish the season in another department, or just ski/ride on layer upon layer of the deep snow you created as a snowmaker. Loon snowmakers receive training, a uniform to keep you toasty warm, and a great deal of respect from all of us for the important job you do!

When and How to Apply

Applications for winter employment begin review in August. One of the best times to apply is at one of our Job Fairs during the fall. You can also apply online or stop in the Human Resource office to complete an application. International applicants, please visit the International Applicants page for more details. 

Below is a general list of our winter positions. Not all positions may be currently available.

Indoor Positions

  • Adventure Center Attendants: Greet and interact with guests who are using the climbing wall; take care of rentals of ice skates and Nordic/snowshoe equipment. 
  • Cash-Out Room Clerk: Responsible for daily cash-out and bookkeeping procedures. 
  • Children's Center Desk Attendants: Organize and run all matters related to reservations, registration, daily books, and cash out for the Children's Center Ski Programs. 
  • Children's Center Childcare Aides: Care of children ages 6 weeks to 6 years in a daycare setting, supervising inside and outside play. 
  • Custodians/Lodgekeeping: Perform custodial and general cleaning duties in base area buildings during day or night shifts.
  • Central Reservations Assistants: Provide guests with information on Loon Mountain's services and activities, and take group reservations. 
  • Ski Rental Cashiers: Responsible for the fast-paced processing of ski and snowboard equipment rentals. 
  • Ski Rental Technicians Assist guests through equipment rental process, while providing excellent customer service in an intense, rapid-paced job with continual guest contact. 
  • Snowsports Desk Representatives: Greet and assist guests with the purchase of all mountain related functions and all snowsports products and services. 
  • Ticket Sellers: Greet and guide guests in their purchase of products offered by Loon Mountain. 
  • Retail Sales Associates: Assist guests in purchasing ski and snowboard equipment and other retail items.

Outdoor Positions

  • Groomers: Groom and maintain all ski slopes throughout the mountain. 
  • Lift Attendants: Assist guests to get on and off chairlifts. 
  • Lift Operators: Assists guests in getting on and off of chair lifts by operating ski lift including inspection and testing before opening. 
  • Parking Attendants: Assist guests and employees in parking in assigned spaces. Maintain order in parking areas. Greet guests coming to the resort.
  • Plow Truck Drivers: Responsible for removing snow from parking lots, roadways and access points. 
  • Security Officers: Provide guest service and help ensure a safe and orderly environment for guests and employees. 
  • Shuttle Bus Drivers - CDL A or B, with Passenger Endorsement, Required: Operate shuttle buses, transporting guests and employees to and from Loon Mountain base area, area lodges, hotels, condos and parking lots.

  • Ski or Snowboard Instructors: Teaches the techniques of skiing/snowboarding, according to guidelines established by resort and PSIA, in a group or individual setting, and based on customer skill level. 
  • Children's Center Instructors: Teach group and private ski and snowboard lessons to children. 
  • Ski Patrol - OEC or Current EMT Certification Required: Monitor Loon Mountain areas for injured, reckless and lost skiers and snowboarders, as well as identifying and eliminating skiing hazards; provide first aid and other necessary assistance to skiers and snowboarders; enforce company skiing safety regulations; and perform various trail maintenance tasks. 
  • Snowmakers: Monitor snowmaking pumps and compressors. 
  • Snow Reporter: Responsible for daily snow reporting, daily picture and video, website updates, fax broadcasts, email blasts, phone updates. 
  • Terrain Park Rangers: Maintain all park elements in the Terrain Park in an effort to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests, while also helping educate park users in Terrain Park and Pipe etiquette. 
  • Snow Tubing Attendants: Assist guests with snow tubing procedures, ensuring a safe, fun environment.

Food and Beverage Positions

  • Cashiers: Accurately ring in food purchases, give change and maintain a balanced cash drawer; maintain a courteous, friendly manner with our guests.
  • Cooks: 
      Prepare all menu items as necessary by using prescribed portions and cooking procedures. 
  • Line workers: Keeps guest dining areas clean and presentable, and perform various food service tasks as assigned. Assist manager setting up and breaking down events.
